I think it's important to stress not just to 'google' something, but how to google *effectively*. Aimless searches with vague or ambiguous detail achieve nothing and I find myself constantly correcting and making suggestions to friends and colleagues on better searches in order to find what they are after.

It's surprising how many people simply don't know how quotes (") affect search results, the plus and minus (+/-) and search options like site: related: and :link as well as the standard clickable options like 'from the last month' and the rest.

Effective googling is an important skill.

[...] Does Google Hurt Efficiency? – Some very good points in this article about using Google to find a solution or reading the manual. The point of this post is that lately it seems I waste more time trying to find good information through searching on the web than trying to find the best source of information. [...]

Oops. I was going to flesh out this post but I guess I published it rather than saved it as a draft. I was planning to compare this with OSPF sham links and BGP backdoors. I will probably edit this post further.

Interesting. I have never heard of SOO but i guess this will be something i learn going through my MPLS test or CCIE.

I would be interested to look through the context you pulled these quotes from.

Thanks

<a href="#comment-7850" rel="nofollow">@Alex Alborzfard </a>
Answers below:
1. Yes and No.
Yes -- You will have add every AD user to the hbo or nomse group if they need to login and you want them to use their AD credentials.
No -- If you want them to to use their Linux account. For instance, the root user is not in AD, but is a Linux system account, it is in neither, but every user on the Linux server is already in the HBO group.
2. Yes. To go further if you want to migrate a user from using their Linux local credentials to their AD credentials you would add the user to the hbo group in AD and them remove them from the Linux server.
3. You should have a /home/mse/.profile file.

My questions are:
1- Do I have populate the "hbo" & "nomse" groups for the existing users?
2- How would I set up a new STAR user in AD: make them a member of "hbo" group?
3- Where is the ".profile" located?
